Solving Disability and Consumer Advocacy Issues
Systems Disabilities Advocacy and ResearchOur focus in 2021 is systems disability advocacy and research. We have developed programs that will change policies, laws or rules that impact how students with disabilities learn and are treated within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Our efforts are currently focused local and state level. |
TO HELP INCREASE EFFECTIVENESSDawn received advocacy training with the Federation for Children with Special Needs, Pete and Pam Wright of Wrights Law and a host of online webinars, workshops and trainings. Additionally, she received Individual Education Plan Facilitation Training with the Mass Dept. of Elementary and Secondary Education. Additionally, she also holds an associate and bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Special Education from Lesley University.
To further improve and sharpen her skills, Dawn is enrolled in a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership. She once again plans to use these newfound skills and information to help in her disability and consumer advocacy pursuits. |
ABOUT DAWN WARBURTONDawn Warburton is both trained and passionate in the advocacy department. As executive director and founder, Dawn started Oak Tree Academy in 2005. Dawn has her own experience academically searching for help for both her sibling and her son. This allowed her to see the many struggles, challenges and obstacles herself. Upon experiencing these challenges, she became determined to help as many special needs parents as she possibly could.
While public schools are not designed to accommodate special needs children, Dawn has worked with parents, individuals and community members to achieve the best possible outcomes to a multitude of problems. |

AdvisingWe provide professional assistance and help you make an informed decision about solving your disability or consumer advocacy issues. The first steps in the process including discussing the current status of the problem what you've attempted on your own to resolve the issue and any documentation you may have to support your claim. We then carefully study and examine the information and form solutions, and offer ideas to help you get the results you want. We aren't satisfied until you are which is why we offer a powerful team with experienced backgrounds to provide the best advice possible.

Letter WritingWe understand there are times when you'd prefer to solve the problem yourself. In those times, we provide proof reading or we develop a professional letter that is direct, precise and get the job done. We remove all fluff and weak points to keep your letter short and powerful. This is incredibly important when it comes to writing to your child’s school. This is not a personal letter but a business letter to get your point across. Communicate effective by letting us be your letter editor.

Who founded OTA?Oak Tree Academy was founded in 2005 by Dawn Warburton. She believed that there needed to be a bigger change in the community. .
